“The lid has blown off. People are booking like crazy”

Ticket sales have risen sharply at SAS since the company’s cost-slashing deals with unions were agreed on Monday. An inside source tells Reuters that ticket sales jumped by as much as 70% on Tuesday and Wednesday compared to normal sales figures.
“The lid has blown off. People are booking like crazy now,” says the unnamed source. As previously reported, the same source said last week that sales were down 30% due to uncertainty over the airline’s future.
Today, SAS is due to launch a new promotion campaign, offering a million cheap tickets. “The campaign has been brought forward as [the management] see that confidence has returned,” the source says.
