Airline to invest millions in cabin upgrades
With an aim to “make life easier” for Scandinavia’s frequent flyers, SAS says it is investing SEK 500 million (€53 million) over the next three years in its short- and medium-haul fleet, “from installing the fastest WiFi in Europe to completing a full cabin upgrade”.
Partnering with ViaSat, SAS says it will offer on-board speeds of 12 Mbps and higher to each passenger, ensuring passengers can work, use social media or stream TV, music and movies.
The first aircraft with the “refreshed cabin interior” will be the new A320neo, which in addition to having extra legroom, more comfortable seats, a lighting system that aligns with the time of day and USB outlets by the seats will use 15-20% less fuel.
The interior design is in line with the new cabin offered on SAS long-haul routes, launched in 2015. In addition to 30 new A320s, 70 existing cabins will be upgraded between 2017 and mid-2019.
