SAS Group traffic does not match capacity

However, “response to market campaigns is good”

SAS Group says that traffic developed as expected during January, as intercontinental and some European routes continued to grow well. However, with demand seasonally low in January, SAS traffic failed to fully match the increased capacity. SAS Group carried 1.9 million passengers in January, down 0.2%. Capacity (ASK) was up by 4.6% and traffic (RPK) increased by 3.9%. Load factor fell slightly to 64.5%.
“The response to market campaigns is good and forward booking levels continue to be well above last year’s level,” the company said in a statement. “Overall, market demand continues to be good but remains unpredictable due to risk in the global economy. This adds uncertainty to the yield and RASK outlook going forward. The capacity increase for the 2012-13 financial year is expected to be approximately 5-6%.
