Move involves 80 cabin staff and approximately 20 pilots
SAS is insisting it needs more cabin staff and pilots and is prioritising that SAS employees be employed under its low-cost subsidiary Cimber. This means “job openings happening in Cimber in the next six months, to hire approximately 80 new cabin staff and approximately 20 new pilots”, it says in a press release.
The first cabin staff have already been offered to return to SAS and many have said yes, SAS says. The move comes after unions and the airline tried to negotiate employment terms for around 140 cabin staff from SAS to be taken to new contracts with Cimber, resulting in a brief strike two months ago.
Meanwhile, SAS says it is creating a competence centre for pilots, which will work on a dedicated job rotation for pilots “both in internal positions and at other airlines”.
