Move follows FAA warning about Galaxy Note 7
Following a strongly worded statement by the US Federal Aviation Authority and a ban by several airlines late last week, SAS has now also banned passengers from using Samsung’s combustible Galaxy Note 7 phone on its planes.
Samsung is facing a public relations disaster after batteries on a number of the devices have caught fire or exploded. It has issued a voluntary global recall. SAS passengers can carry their Galaxy Note 7 on board but must not use or charge it.
“Since the FAA has issued a strong recommendation, SAS has chosen to prohibit the phone until further notice,” Fredrik Henriksson, SAS press officer, told Sweden’s TT newswire.
