Sami museum in Sweden hit in gas attack

Two attackers spray unknown substance in the building

A number of people were left violently ill at the Ájtte museum of Sami culture in Jokkmokk, northern Sweden, after two attackers sprayed an unknown substance in the building.

A man and a woman entered the popular tourist attraction and sprayed what may have been tear gas into the air, affecting around 20 people. Several people vomited but nobody needed hospital treatment. A dark-coloured foreign-registered vehicle was reportedly used as a getaway car.

Police were quickly called to the scene. They think the attack may have been an attempted robbery of the museum, which holds a number of precious Sami artefacts.
