Russia’s air traffic at pre-crisis levels

Russian tourists and business travellers are back
Russian tourists and business travellers are back. Airline passenger traffic in Russia has returned to pre-crisis levels.
In June, Russian airlines carried more than 20% more passengers, to 10.4 million. This means that for the first half of the year, 46.2 million passengers were carried, up 21.5% year-on-year.
International traffic for the six months grew 37.6% to 18.4 million, domestic traffic 12.7% to 27.8 million. Load factor increased by almost three percentage points to 80.7%.
By airline, H1 traffic figures were: Aeroflot 15.2 million, up 13.5%; Aeroflot subsidiary Rossiya 4.9 million, up 66.9%; Sibir, which is part of S7 Airlines, 4.4 million, up 2.4%; Globus, also part of S7, 2 million, up 41.9%; Ural 3.3 million, up 24.9%, becoming the fourth biggest airline in Russia; UTair 3.27 million, up 15.9%. The total market share of Russia’s five biggest carriers is 67.5%.
