The renovated hotel offers a new style and new services such as the Spanish restaurant “Olé” and free Internet throughout the hotel.
The Riu Festival has just opened its doors to welcome its guests with new services and a new style after undergoing a complete renovation over the winter. Originally inaugurated in 1975, the hotel, with its newly remodeled rooms, bathrooms, bars, restaurants and terraces is kicking off the summer season as a completely new establishment. The new style, which includes light colors, simple lines and open and bright spaces is evident in the façade and the interior, as well as its new services such as free WiFi throughout the hotel.
The hotel is located in Playa de Palma, about 300 yards from the beach and surrounded by all types of services. The renovation included adding a level to the hotel which now has 238 rooms distributed over seven floors. All of the rooms have new furniture and are decorated in light, natural hues; while the bathrooms are now equipped with showers and translucent glass walls, which gives the rooms a spacious and bright feeling. The balconies, constructed in steel and glass, are also entirely new.
The hotel has a main restaurant for breakfasts and dinners which has been completely renovated and now offers a spacious terrace to enjoy pleasant meals outside. In addition to its buffet offering international cuisine, the hotel also has a new restaurant “Olé” where guests can make a reservation and enjoy a dinner replete with Spanish specialties.
In addition to the lobby bar which now offers a very attractive design, in the summer, the new pool bar offers a snack menu at lunchtime.
As part of the renovation, renewable energy systems were installed including a geothermal system and the hotel’s lighting is energy-efficient or LED. The pool now uses a salt water chlorination system, thereby reducing the consumption of chemical products and water thanks to the new filtration system.
The renovation of the Riu Festival, joins those carried out at Riu San Francisco in 2014 and Riu Bravo in 2015 and is part of RIU’s plan to update and increase the quality of all of its hotels. Likewise, RIU is doing its part to renew and transform Playa de Palma as a destination.
