Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino has announced it will develop an exciting new thrill ride, VooDoo Skyline, set to open late August 2013.

The exhilarating attraction will deliver a Las Vegas experience unlike any other – sending guests soaring higher than 122 metres in the air at electrifying speeds, offering 360-degree open-air views of the Las Vegas Strip.

The one-minute and 10-second zip ride will takeoff from VooDoo Lounge, located atop Rio’s 50-story Masquerade tower, sending guests cascading more than 244 metres to the Ipanema tower and reaching speeds up to 53 kilometres per hour. VooDoo Skyline can accommodate up to two riders at one time and will have a unique feature – on the return trip guests will ride an additional 244 metres to the starting point facing backwards, a total ride of over 500 metres.

VooDoo Skyline is the creative collaboration between Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, New Venture Capital partners Joe Shortal and Jonathan Borchetta, and Stan Checketts, the creator of more than 200 amusement rides. The Las Vegas-based business is expected to bring an additional 35 to 40 jobs to the market.

“When developing VooDoo Skyline, we sought to create a one-of-a-kind, adrenaline-packed Vegas experience”, said Shortal. “The zip ride – which is different than a zip line – will appeal to guests of all ages, offering both daytime and nighttime centre-Strip views at exhilarating speeds that will take your breath away”.

“Rio has always been known for having some of the best views in Vegas. Now thrill-seeking guests can enjoy the legendary views that VooDoo Steak and VooDoo Rooftop Nightclub are best known for – from an entirely new dimension”, said Kevin Donnelly, director of hotel operations, Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. “We’re excited to be offering this invigorating new view of Las Vegas”.

VooDoo Skyline will be open 7 days a week, offering rides from noon to midnight.

Situated high above Las Vegas on the 50th floor of Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino’s Masquerade Tower, VooDoo Steak and VooDoo Rooftop Nightclub provide breathtaking views of the Las Vegas Strip. Specialising in gourmet steak selections, VooDoo Steak serves American cuisine with French Creole flair, open daily from 5 to 11 p.m.

Located directly above the elegant and exotic VooDoo Steak, VooDoo Rooftop Nightclub is an indoor/outdoor, double-decker nightclub featuring flair bartenders and lively music beginning at 9 p.m. nightly.
