Quarter of hotels do not use social media marketing

But 65% of hoteliers surveyed use Facebook to reach out to guests

Research by the travel technology company TravelClick has surveyed 600 chain and independent hoteliers and found that 25% of them are not using any aspect of social media as tools to boost revenues and occupancy. Among those hoteliers who are making use of social media, Facebook is by far the most commonly used site (65% of respondents). Only 20% are using Twitter as a marketing tool. TravelClick says that despite the social media buzz, many hoteliers still prefer the tried-and-tested means such as online advertising. Another finding is that almost 70% of respondents say guests are showing less price sensitivity, though it is still important.
