Incident occurs in coldest weather in two decades
A plane skidded off a runway yesterday after landing at New York’s Kennedy airport, sliding into snow. No injuries occurred. But the incident was a warning to pilots flying in the north-western USA at the moment, which has been hit by the coldest weather in two decades.
Temperatures in the Midwest have been told to be ready for life-threatening temperatures over the coming week.
The Delta Connection CRJ, flown by Endeavor Air, was arriving from Toronto at around 08:00 on Sunday with 35 passengers. It was turning off the runway onto a taxiway when it slid in slippery conditions.
