The adventure travel company, Explorations Inc., has organized a tour to Peru this September 8th – 20th that features Mistura 2012 in Lima, and travels from the Andes to the Amazon. The Mistura gastronomy fair is the largest food festival in Latin America and is a celebration of the diversity of Peruvian foods.
Like the Spanish word “mistura”, which means mixture, the small group (10 to 16 participants) tour mixes cultures, cuisines, and geography. The unique trip is escorted by anthropologist Charlie Strader, President of Explorations. He wanted to plan a special cultural, natural history, and food-focused itinerary that included this year’s fifth annual Mistura!
Tour highlights include :* Mistura 2012, fifth annual gastronomy festival* Lima, City of Kings* Cuzco, Archaeological Capital of the Americas* The Sacred Valley of the Inca with its spectacular Inca ruins and Quechua villages* The South Valley of Cuzco with its spectacular Inca ruins and Quechua villages* Machu Picchu, one of the “new” Seven Wonders of the World* Amazon Rainforest* A gastronomic focus – from farm to fork – with visits to local markets, cooking demonstrations, and special meals.
