Royal Penthouse Suite, Hotel President Wilson, Geneva

It’s hard to imagine spending virtually a year’s income on just one night at a hotel. But for the very few who can afford such luxury, the Royal Penthouse Suite at the Hotel President Wilson in Geneva is believed to be the world’s most expensive hotel suite.

It costs 75,000 Swiss francs (€61,000) a night, has 12 rooms (and 12 bathrooms), and boasts a lakeside location close to the United Nations building. The suite has housed heads of state and reportedly celebrities like Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Richard Branson and Bill Gates.

The 1,670 square-metre suite takes up the whole of the eighth floor, with four bedrooms, several living rooms, a library and a dining room that seats 26 people. There’s a private chef and butler on hand.

Enjoy a billiards room, a Jacuzzi, a Steinway grand piano and a giant Bang & Olufsen flat screen TV. There’s also a private “royal boardroom”, private 156 square-metre terrace, private fitness centre and private elevator to avoid the paparazzi.
