Oulu Airport displays “forest of rugs”

Rugs are “stylish and create a cosy atmosphere”

This spring, creations by the textile artist Taina Otsamo, who works with traditional Finnish rugs, are prettifying the departure lounge at Oulu Airport. Airport operator Finavia says that with the rug exhibition it wants to make passengers’ “experience of the airport even more enjoyable”.

Airport Manager Liisa Sallinen: “The rugs of Taina Otsamo are stylish and create a cosy atmosphere at the airport. They embody nature as well as a genuinely Finnish feeling and, most importantly, they are creations of a local artist.”

The motif of the rugs is nature in spring and the first, tender-green birch leaves. The airport has rocking chairs in place in the same lounge, which is located next to Gate 14, so passengers can take in the rugs in a relaxed way. “Rag rugs” under the rocking chairs have also been made by local artisans.
