Norwegian’s Dreamliner nightmares return

Norwegian Dreamliner suffers 70-hour delay in US
Passengers stuck in San Francisco were “close to mutiny”, as one of them put it, as mixed messages and many hours passed waiting for their Norwegian Boeing 787 to fly them back to Oslo. The flight with 250 passengers, delayed for a near-record 70 hours, brought back Dreamliner nightmares for the airline.
A replacement aircraft finally took off – taking the passengers to Reykjavik. There they were transferred to yet another plane.
“We totally understand that our passengers are angry,” airline press spokeswoman Charlotte Holmbergh Jacobsson told broadcaster NRK.
Norwegian suffered many similar delays at the end of 2013 and start of 2014 as it launched low-cost long-haul flights. It has just five Dreamliners, so when problems occur the airline lacks backup aircraft or sufficient staff on the ground to solve them.
