Norwegian student raped in Cape Town

Norwegian teen robbed and raped by two armed men

Given the fact that South Africa has one of the world’s highest incidences of rape – estimates show that a woman is raped there every few minutes – it was probably only a matter of time before it threatened the country’s lucrative tourism industry. Earlier this week, a Norwegian teenager was robbed and raped at gunpoint by two men in Cape Town.
According to police, the two men forced the 19-year-old exchange student into their car along with a male South African friend at Signal Hill, one of the city’s main attractions.
“En route to [nearby residential area] Summer Greens, the female was raped by both suspects,” a police spokesman told news agency AFP. No arrests have yet been made.
