Strike notice issued on behalf of more than 800 staff
Some 836 of Norwegian’s approximately 1,200 cabin staff will strike from Wednesday, if a solution to the dispute is not found before then. The cabin staff, organised by the Parat union, have sent out a strike notice, although brokering continues today and tomorrow to avoid the action.
According to press reports, the chairman of the Norwegian Cabin Crew Association, Marit Lindén, says that the association has been in negotiations with the airline since June without getting any concessions to its wish to improve wages and working conditions.
“We demand acceptable working conditions and percentage bonuses in line with the pilots,” she says, stressing that the union wants Norwegian continue to grow in and beyond Norway.
“Norwegian wages and working conditions must be competitive, but Norwegian offers its subordinate working conditions – including covering the need for regular workers with permanent employees,” she underlined.
