Norwegian signs for more 787s, gets license

Airline ups Dreamliner total to 14, delivery from 2017

Norwegian has signed up for four more Boeing 787 Dreamliners to add to its long-haul fleet, raising the total to 14. A letter of intent has been signed for 787-9s, which it will lease. They will be delivered in 2017 and 2018.

Norwegian has also been awarded an operating license for its new long-haul subsidiary by authorities in Ireland, despite widespread criticism.

Labour groups such as the United States’ Air Line Pilots Association International argue that Norwegian is trying to take advantage of regulatory loopholes to give it an unfair cost advantage over its rivals.
