Carrier reports “solid passenger figures” for April

Norwegian has reported its April traffic results. More than 1.3 million passengers flew with the company during the month, up 11% compared to the same month in 2011. The month’s traffic figures were influenced by Easter, as the majority of the holiday travel took place in the last weekend in March. This meant that both business and holiday travel in the first week of April was considerably lower than usual.
Norwegian carried 1,345,293 passengers in April, with an ASK growth of 9%. The load factor was 76%, one percentage point lower than the previous April. Yield improved by 6%.
“Brand new aircraft with free in-flight WiFi continue to attract more passengers,” said CEO Bjørn Kjos, who added that 46 of the airline’s aircraft are now WiFi equipped.
“In April alone, more than one million passengers have had the opportunity to experience our WiFi on board.”
