Airline blames World Cup for no other planes to lease
Norwegian’s ongoing issues with its Dreamliner aircraft returned with a record 44 hour and 43 minute delay for one flight from Orlando to Oslo at the weekend.
The plane had been scheduled to depart at 22:05 on Saturday but finally left at 18:43 local time on Monday. The 221 passengers spent two nights in nearby hotels.
Spare parts were suddenly needed for the plane and these had to be flown from London, airline spokesman Lasse Sandaker-Nielsen explained. He blamed the World Cup for Norwegian being unable to lease another plane. This week’s delay was a record for Norwegian’s Dreamliners.
“This is absolutely horrible for all those affected,” he told Norway’s VG newspaper. “This is an unacceptably long delay.”
