Norwegian creates 787 “Long Haul” company

Subsidiary to house 2013 arrival of first Dreamliner

The Scandinavian low-cost carrier Norwegian has created a new long-haul subsidiary, Norwegian Long Haul, specifically to accommodate the 2013 arrival of its first Boeing 787-8, due to be delivered in April 2013 and enter service in early summer. The Norwegian branding will remain the same, but it will be a separate company with its own air operator’s certificate.
Norwegian is buying three 787 “Dreamliner” aircraft and leasing five more. Initial routes will be from Stockholm and Oslo to New York and Bangkok, although it is not yet clear which New York airport will be used.
