Nordica forced to keep outsourcing pilots

Carrier suffers delays in its pilot training program
Estonia’s national carrier Nordica is suffering because of delays in its pilot training program. As a result the airline is being forced to continue outsourcing training – an additional burden on costs.
For now it will have to keep paying crews hired outside the company as well as its own pilots who have not yet been fully trained.
Nordic Aviation Group took over many of the routes of Estonian Air when the flag carrier went bankrupt last year. It rebranded to Nordica in March.
Of the four aircraft it owns and operates in Estonia, three are staffed by Estonian crews while the crew on the fourth is outsourced. In mid-May, the airline had to cancel two flights because it did not have the staff available. The problem is that the instructors who give the training are also pilots on scheduled flights.
