The head of Tillväxtverket, Sweden’s agency for economic and regional growth, has been sacked after revelations in the newspaper Dagens Nyheter that the agency has been spending around 25,000 kronor (€3,000) per employee since January 2010 on travel, ski trips spa visits and luxury dinners. Christina Lugnet will be relieved of her responsibilities as from Thursday.
“The activities that [the agency] are responsible for are immensely important and for the agency to continue to develop and do a good job it needs a director general who holds the full confidence of Swedish trade and industry, of Sweden's citizens as well as the government,” said the minister, Annie Lööf, in a statement.
