During the first quarter of 2012, the USA welcomed more than a quarter of a million visitors from the Nordic region. That was an increase of 17% compared to the same period last year, with especially high rises in numbers coming from Norway and Denmark. The biggest number in the first quarter travelled from Sweden (96,397, up 10.1%), followed by Denmark (60,453, up 23.1%), Norway (60,330, up 31.4%), Finland (31,551, up 7.0%) and Iceland (10,309, up 9.6%).
“These statistics mirror the positive acknowledgements that we are receiving from our local member base – that the US is a ‘hot product’,” Karin Gert Nielsen, managing director of Discover America Denmark, said.
