Etihad buys bees and 200 hens

Free-range eggs and honey to be served to passengers

In an effort to distinguish itself from its rivals, Etihad Airways has bought 200 hens and three beehives to please customers’ palates. The hens and bees will produce eggs and honey to be served exclusively to its passengers, the airline says. The free-range eggs will be used for dishes in first class. The Middle Eastern carrier is also developing "a line of signature pickles", produced at an organic farm in Abu Dhabi.
"We are thrilled to be the only airline in the world offering organic eggs and honey directly from our own locally raised hens and bees," Etihad said in a statement.
