A twin-turboprop ATR 72 operated by Air Dolomiti, an Italy-based regional carrier owned by Germany's Lufthansa, has made an emergency landing in Munich injuring five people. The plane was 10 minutes into its flight from Munich to Venice when smoke appeared in the cockpit and cabin. As it returned, the pilot reported engine problems and it skidded off the runway.
The aircraft was carrying 58 passengers and four crew. Munich’s southern runway was closed for several hours and around 20 flights were diverted.
