Amid all the uncertainty surrounding Greece’s financial woes and what some observers speculate may be its possible exit from the single European currency, the UK-based outbound travel company DialAFlight has advised holidaymakers to get rid of any Greek euro notes they may have. The company said on its website that if Greece eventually defaults it could use Greek euro notes – carrying the prefix Y – as a temporary currency.
However, many economists argue that all euro notes have the same value, that one set of notes cannot be split from another and that such speculation is meaningless.
