An Agni Air aircraft has crashed into a hill while trying to land at Jomsom Airport. The area near the Annapurna mountain range, about 200 km west Kathmandu, is popular among trekkers. Fifteen people on board have been reported killed and six others, including two children have so far been rescued. The plane had been carrying 18 passengers – 16 from India and two westerners – plus three Nepalese crew.
“The plane was about to land at Jomsom Airport. It hit a muddy slope and the plane is now buried in the side of the hill,” said a police spokesman.
