A Scandlines passenger ferry was rammed by another vessel as it was arriving at the busy port of Travemünde in northern Germany last night. No injuries have been reported on either ship. The Nils Holgersson, operated by TT-Lines, was carrying 63 passengers and around 50 crew when it smashed into the Scandlines’ Urd, which sails between Travemünde and Ventspils in Latvia. The incident is likely to cause some disruption to Scandlines traffic.
“There was a hole in the hull and some water came in, but fire crews went on board and pumped out the water,” a Scandlines spokesperson told the German news company TT.
