Now is the time for travel agents to sell cruises. Royal Caribbean says it will launch what it calls “aggressive” new-to-cruise sales campaigns for two of its lines, following a difficult period for the cruise sector. Its “ultimate sale”, running throughout May, will offer around 15,000 cruises at heavily discounted prices. Celebrity Cruises is also in sale mode, launching “double summer savings” by pledging upgrades on holidays. Cruise lines say that bookings are “likely to be even later this year compared with 2011”.
It remains to be seen whether cruise lines will compensate passengers who have already booked at higher prices.
