Stockholm and other areas are braced for more snow
Only a few days after heavy snow brought transport to halt in Stockholm and across Sweden, another winter storm threatens to do the same. Heavy snow and strong winds hit southern Sweden this morning closing some rail traffic and making roads dangerous. So far, snow is especially deep – up to 40cm – in areas such as Kalmar County and the island of Öland, prompting a class 2 weather warning from the country’s meteorology agency SMHI.
Rail traffic between Oskarshamn and Berga has stopped temporarily, the Hultsfred-Kalmar line with reduced frequency. The storm is now moving north and further heavy snow may affect Stockholm as well as Södermanland, Östergötland and Blekinge.
