Site focused on UK market, with potential to go global
A new review website has been created, with content to be posted only by agents and other travel professionals. The site, professionaltraveladvisors.com, is unique, its creators say, because all of the people contributing reviews are bona fide travel agents. The website is currently focused on the UK market, with founder Tony Godley marketing it by visiting travel agents directly, but he believes it has the potential to go global. It is focused mainly on accommodation reviews, but it also allows agents to review airlines and car rental companies, unlike other review sites such as TripAdvisor. All reviews include a call to action for users to contact the travel agent for more information.
The aim is to “re-educate the customers and direct them back to travel agents”, since the reviews posted are by trusted travel professionals. “We are campaigning to drive Internet bookers back to travel agents,” said Godley, who himself is a travel agent, formerly of The Travel Studio in Ealing, London. There is no advertising on the site at all. Instead it operates on a monthly membership fee per travel agent or per office location.
