SWISS to launch routes from start of 2015 summer schedules
From the start of the 2015 summer schedules, Switzerland’s national airline SWISS says it will be supplementing its traditional hub concept with a new point-to-point system, expanding its Zurich-based European network with the addition of 22 new destinations. Among other destinations, it will launch new direct routes from Gothenburg, Helsinki and Riga.
The new service between Gothenburg and Zurich will start on 19 April 2015 and operate six times weekly. Helsinki-Zurich will launch 30 March 2015 and be served five times weekly, Riga on 31 March 2015 at three times weekly.
Out of the 22 new destinations, Naples, Bari, Bilbao, Porto, Toulouse, Leipzig, Dresden, Graz, Krakow, Ljubljana, Sarajevo, Sofia and Zagreb as well as Gothenburg, Helsinki and Riga, will get a year-round service, while six new destinations – Palermo, Brindisi, Malta, Thessaloniki, Izmir and Santiago de Compostela – will be served in the summer months.
Part of the Lufthansa Group, SWISS says it will soon invest several billion Swiss francs in its fleet and “make its products and services even more appealing to its guests”. On board there will be a new-look cabin on its European Airbus aircraft from the end of November, including a new seat with more legroom.
