SunExpress adds 14 new routes between Anatolia and Europe

SunExpress, a joint venture between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, is adding 14 new routes to its network between Europe and cities and resorts in Anatolia next summer. One of these is to Stockholm.

The airline plans to enter the 2018 summer season with a 24% capacity increase compared to summer 2017, “strengthening its position as the leading airline with the most direct flights from Anatolia”, it says.

SunExpress will deliver 162 flights a week to 17 destinations in Europe from nine cities in Anatolia, including Adana, Ankara, Gaziantep, Elazığ, Konya, Kayseri, Ordu-Giresun Airport, Samsun and Trabzon.

It has added five new European cities – London, Paris, Zurich, Amsterdam and Cologne – to its flights departing Ankara, bringing the total number of routes from the Turkish capital to 12.

Whirling dervishes
As for its Anatolia-Europe network, it will add London and Zurich from Gaziantep, Hamburg, Münster and Strasburg from Kayseri, Stockholm and Düsseldorf from Konya, Munich from Samsun, and Hannover from Elazığ.

Konya, famous for its whirling dervish ceremonies, is located inland and is about 260 kilometres from the coastline and resorts such as Alanya.

“Our aim, together with our business partners, is to meet all travel needs of our passengers,” said the airline’s trade director Peter Glade. “We are the only airline with deep roots both in Turkey and in Germany. No other airline can understand Turks living in Europe and Germany as well as we do. This gives SunExpress the responsibility to link both our bases, Turkey and Europe, especially Germany”.

“We offer 30 kilograms of free luggage for our citizens living in Europe on our flights between Europe and Turkey excluding Antalya.”
