Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin Tegel, Hannover, Hamburg airports at risk
Lufthansa cabin crew are planning to implement a new strike on Tuesday. But where the strike hits remains to be seen. Friday’s strike at Frankfurt resulted in more than 200 cancelled flights, affecting around 26,000 passengers, and the one due to take place tomorrow may be just as damaging. If you have a ticket for a Lufthansa flight on Tuesday morning, you can start now to look for alternatives.
For the union UFO, which has the power to motivate around 19,000 Lufthansa cabin staff, says it will launch a second strike of about six to eight hours at one or more German airports. Exactly where and when remains to be seen, but it is possible Munich may be affected this time. Airports such as Berlin Tegel, Hannover and Hamburg are also at risk.
With the help of middle managers, Lufthansa managed to implement some of its planned flights on Friday, but not as many as it had hoped. Subsidiaries Lufthansa Regional and Germanwings are not covered by the conflict.
