New cruise ship puts chefs in starring role

P&O Cruises’ 3,600-pax vessel Britannia to sail in 2015

Top chefs have been recruited to helm a cooking club on a new 141,000-tonne cruise liner to start voyages in 2015. P&O Cruises’ 3,600-passenger vessel Britannia will set sail on its maiden voyage from Southampton on March 14 next year.

TV chef James Martin will head the cast, together with pastry chef Eric Lanlard, while Marco Pierre White, Atul Kochhar and Olly Smith will also contribute.

The 14-night Mediterranean maiden voyage will stop at Barcelona, Monte Carlo and Rome, among other places.

After that it will make voyages around the UK and Ireland, the Caribbean, the Baltic and the Canaries.

“Britannia will introduce cutting-edge design combined with a range of innovations uniquely styled to appeal to those who may not have considered a cruise holiday before, as well as our many loyal past passengers,” Christopher Edgington, P&O Cruises’ marketing director, said.
