Murder sites become tourist attractions

New tourist stop: site where man ate his victim’s face

The site of an already infamous attack in Miami that took place just a couple of weeks ago is already set to become the city’s latest tourist attraction. The crime scene where police shot a naked man who they found chewing the face off his victim will be part of the “Mystery & Mayhem: Crime Tour” of Miami, given by Miami-Dade College professor Paul George. Demand from both international and domestic tourists is helping to feed the addition of such sites to city tours, the organisers say. Similar crime tours are becoming an established part of city tourism everywhere, but rarely so soon after the crimes happened.
“Horrible as it was, it is part of our history,” George told the South Florida Business Journal. “Currently, our tour takes us over the causeway right past the site, so this fits well.”
Rudy Eugene, 31, was shot and killed by police when he refused to stop eating another man’s face in Miami on May 26.
