Longer cruises to exotic destinations to be offered
The success of MSC Cruises’ newly launched cruise to Australia has prompted it to think about offering more and longer cruises to exotic destinations.
The 33-day 2015 cruise from Dubai to Australia, departing on March 26, was put on sale earlier this month. Sales were put on hold globally due to their popularity. Around 60% of the voyage has been sold.
The cruise is now being put back on sale, after the company has had an opportunity to analyse the figures and assess how best to continue selling the product.
“It is the first time that MSC has done a cruise like this,” said Giles Hawke, the line’s executive director for the UK, Ireland and Australia. “The first time you do something you don’t know whether the demand is there. We’ve been pleasantly surprised by what we’ve seen.”
More cruises of a similar nature are now being considered, with a longer cruise further afield offered for the same time in 2016.
