Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Lines to sail in 2017
Royal Caribbean and Norwegian are the second and third major cruise lines to win Cuban approval to start sailing to one of the industry’s most hotly anticipated new destinations. But Cuban officials are so far asking for a “very short season” from the lines.
Norwegian Cruise Lines says that Marina, part of its Oceania Cruises line, will sale there from Miami on March 7 next year. Its two other brands Norwegian and Regent Seven Seas will also sail to Cuba. The 2,000-pax Norwegian Sky will make four-day voyages to Cuba in May with an overnight in Havana.
Royal Caribbean, meanwhile, says it will announce Florida-Cuba itineraries soon, including some on its Azamara Club line.
Cruise giant Carnival Corp has already been sailing to Cuba under its socially conscious Fathom brand but will operate trips using other brands from next summer.
