More couples go to Copenhagen to wed

Loving couples from near and far arrive to tie the knot
While 686 couples from other countries tied the knot in Copenhagen in 2012, almost 2,000 did in 2015, the city’s municipality has revealed. Some are coming from as far away as Peru.
The Danish capital’s wedding bells are tolling for more and more foreigners these days.
“We’ve never wed so many people from abroad before here in Copenhagen, and we’ve seen quite an increase,” Flemming Otto, a City Hall spokesperson, said. “We have already wed over 1,000 couples this year, and the trend looks to be continuing.”
Copenhagen’s reputation as an exciting, romantic and safe city with a high level of service and efficient marriage processing times may be contributing to the trend, Otto explained.
Many loving couples are arriving from fellow Nordic and nearby countries, but “in the coming weeks we have couples coming in from the US, Australia and Russia,” he said.
