Costa Concordia investigation goes further than captain
The investigation into the Costa Concordia tragedy has broadened to include seven more Costa Cruises staff – four Concordia officers and three other employees. These include the company’s crisis unit chief, Roberto Ferrarini. It was Ferrarini who was in communication with Francesco Schettino, the captain of the ship, on the fateful night. Schettino is still under house arrest and Staff Captain Ciro Ambrosio is also under investigation.
Although the seven staff are suspected of charges such as manslaughter and failing to alert the maritime authorities, none have yet been charged or detained.
