Mitsubishi Aircraft concludes deal for 100 regional jets

Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation has concluded a deal to sell 100 of its MRJ90 aircraft with an option for a further 100 for SkyWest Airlines, a US regional carrier based in Utah that flies to 169 cities in 37 states. The Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) deliveries will start in 2017. Based on the MRJ90 list price, the order for 100 planes is valued at $4.2 billion, with an additional $4.2 billion related to the executable 100 options.
This is the third firm order for Japan-based Mitsubishi Aircraft, after Japan’s ANA ordered 15 in 2008 and the US company Trans States Airlines ordered 50 in 2009, both for delivery in 2014. Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation was established in April 2008.
“SkyWest believes the MRJ, with its significant advancements in fuel economy, passenger comfort and environmental friendliness, will be a valued addition to our fleet,” said Bradford R Rich, president of SkyWest, Inc.
