Strike could cause maximum damage over Easter
A vast majority of pilots at Lufthansa have voted for a strike, which would have 48-hour notification before taking place. The strike could cause maximum damage as Easter approaches.
The news comes after a ballot among 5,400 pilots, as many as 99% of whom expressed support for the strike. It was reported that 95.8% of the pilots took part in the vote.
Lufthansa has so far reached agreement with cabin and ground staff on new contracts as part of its ongoing restructuring – but not with the pilots. Now the pilots have lost patience with Lufthansa’s proposals for new pay and working conditions.
“At the moment there are no plans for strikes in connection with Easter, but if Lufthansa goes in and challenges us then we will reconsider,” said chief negotiator Ilona Ritter in a press release.
