Lufthansa pilot strike in Munich tomorrow

Strike to last for eight hours, many cancellations likely

Lufthansa will again be hit by a pilots’ strike on Wednesday. This time notice has been given that it will affect flights from Munich.

Pilots are calling the strike for eight hours, causing delays and cancellations to air travel across much of Europe. The Cockpit union says the action will last at the Munich airport from 10:00 to 18:00.

The reason for the strike is that no agreement can be reached about pension agreements between Lufthansa and the pilots. Among other things, Lufthansa wants pilots’ retirement age to be raised.

“Since Lufthansa’s management has not managed to come up with an acceptable proposal, we are forced to take further steps”, a statement from the union reads.

A similar strike in Frankfurt last Friday meant Lufthansa had to cancel more than 200 flights, affecting about 25,000 passengers.
