Lufthansa Group to hire 3,000 staff in 2017

Most will be flight attendants to join group’s various airlines
Lufthansa Group says it will hire more than 3,000 new staff this year, mostly flight attendants to join the group’s various airlines in 2017. Lufthansa, Germany’s biggest airline, will hire 1,400 flight attendants at its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich alone.
Other divisions hiring include Lufthansa Technik, which is planning to recruit 450 new employees at different locations. Austrian Airlines, meanwhile, is hiring more than 300 new cabin, check-in and cockpit staff.
Lufthansa says that “training young people is of particular importance”, adding that “250 new candidates will start an apprenticeship or a degree in Lufthansa Group in 2016/17. And there is a lot to choose from: there are nine degree courses and 34 training programmes including toolmaker, air traffic assistant, system catering professional and forwarding and logistics services expert”.
Last year, in addition to the usual application processes, Lufthansa held six cabin crew castings in Heidelberg, Mainz, Augsburg, Regensburg, Munich and Berlin. More than 2,000 applicants went to the castings.
