Development of new class will take about two years
Lufthansa has announced that it is expanding its product portfolio by equipping the entire Lufthansa long-haul fleet with a new Premium Economy class. The airline group’s supervisory board has approved the investment capital for an introductory project that will achieve this. At the beginning of 2013, a project group will be created to manage the process and define the precise features of the product as well as a detailed timetable. Development will take about two years.
Premium Economy will be installed right across the airline’s intercontinental fleet. Lufthansa says that the upgraded economy product will “fill the gap between the superior Business Class segment, which features a seat that can be converted into a fully flat bed, on one side and the classic Economy Class on the other. This will appeal to both leisure travellers seeking additional comfort and business travellers.”
