Lufthansa and union VC to meet this coming Thursday
Lufthansa and the union Vereinigung Cockpit, which represents most of the airline’s 5,400 pilots, have agreed to meet this coming Thursday to discuss the union’s demands for higher salaries and an early retirement scheme.
A Lufthansa spokesman said that the aim of the meeting was to define the next steps and lay the grounds for negotiations. The airline will make no new offers, he confirmed.
“We will take up talks on the basis of the offer on the table,” he said. “We are convinced it has enough substance to develop a solution.”
As reported, Lufthansa’s pilots went on strike for three days last week to stress their demands, resulting in the cancellation of 3,800 flights. The strike was widely criticised in the German media and among politicians and business leaders.
