Lufthansa and UFO have been talking for over a year
Two sides involved in one of the airline industry’s longest-running pay disputes say they are confident of an agreement by November.
Lufthansa and cabin-crew union UFO, which represents the interests of aroound 19,000 flight attendants, have been in negotiations for more than a year while trying to cut costs to more effectively compete with low-cost and Gulf rivals.
The two sides aim to finally reach agreement over new wage contracts and pension plans.
“I’m convinced that we can find constructive solutions,” Lufthansa personnel chief Bettina Volkens said yesterday.
UFO chief Nicoley Baublies said, also on Sunday: “After a lot of back and forth, we all want and need an end to the impasse.” But she did not rule out further strikes.
