Jordanian, Kuwaiti passengers can now fly with laptops
Royal Jordanian and Kuwait Airways are the latest airlines in the Middle East to be released from a ban on laptops and other electronic devices in the cabin, on flights to the USA.
They join Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines, each of which announced their own exemptions from the ban last week.
Royal Jordanian flies from Amman to New York, Chicago and Detroit. It said that new security measures had been launched for flights bound for the US. Kuwait Airways flies to New York via Ireland.
Amman and Kuwait airports have “implemented the required initial enhanced security measures”, according to Mike England, spokesman for the US Transportation Security Administration.
Saudi Arabian carrier Saudia and Royal Air Maroc expect to be next for the ban to be lifted, on flights from Jeddah, Riyadh and Casablanca. EgyptAir is also believed to be implementing the security measures.
