26th Icehotel opens its doors in northern Sweden
The 26th Icehotel has opened its doors in northern Sweden for this year’s winter season, with 19 suites designed by artists and carved from 5,000 tonnes of ice, The Guardian reports.
The hotel complex includes 55 rooms, a church and a bar. Among the guest rooms, the Love Capsule suite was designed Luc Voisin and Mathieu Brison who were inspired by fashion, design and disco from the 1970s.
The vision behind the Flying Buttress suite by AnnaKatrin Kraus and Hans Aescht, meanwhile, was a forest of Gothic-like ice pillars. Building starts each year when the River Torne freezes over and takes about two months to complete. Pictures of the hotel can be seen here.
